Say Baby

The California roomies came and visited for two days and it was magical. Somehow I have no pictures of the occasion, and the most recent picture I could find of Me, Claire, and Steph together is from February 2007. How this happened, I have no idea. But here it is, for kicks:
Also, here's a picture from the last time they came to Irvine:
I mean, we pretty much look exactly the same except maybe our sunglasses are cooler now. So, whatever.

In other news, Paris in three days. How this happened, I also don't know.

Are You a Badfish Too?

Cinco de Mayo/ First Night Without Claire/ Dave's Last Night

Not sure if we know how to be anything but low key. We really need Duke back in our lives.

Those mattresses are so ugly.

Missing Bear: Take One. Steph looks a little too enthused.

We lahve you Bear.

Not sure what Colin and Meg are doing here. But Steph is blissfully unaware.

Not really sure why I look like the saddest person on earth. Maybe I just miss Claire that much.

Nicotine and Gravy

  • Spring is here.
  • I'm sick, again.
  • In less than a week I'm DONE with school AND Dave will be HERE. (!)
  • Parents sent cookies. And nuts. See roommate excitment regarding said nuts below.
  • Really enjoying this bullet thing. (It reminds me of my mother, who always makes lists, and always makes a point to make "I like making lists" as one of the items on the list.)
  • This summer, you will find me in New York,
  • Working happily as an Editorial Intern at Avalon Books, a small publishing house,
  • And getting real paid working (and playing with toys that I am too old for, usually not because they are too young for me, but because they exceed my technological and assemblage abilities) at Litzky PR, my old internship .
  • As for after summer, I'm officially studying abroad in Cape Town in the fall. (!)
  • And most likely, but not yet officially, studying abroad in Paris in the spring.
That's the news, I guess. I think I mentioned something about this thing not being boring, and I have blatantly lied to you. I was hoping to post little tidbits and funny things and occassionally let you know what's going on in my life, but as life has been really crazy lately, tidbits have sadly been pushed aside (or perhaps behind my bed, with everything else?) and I end up only being able to give you the most concrete and definite things that I can think of, which are just somewhat pertinent pieces of information (pertinent only to me) that I can remember occuring between the last post and the current post.

Anyways, I'll try to be funnier, or something, later. Soon. Until then, here's an animatic that's part of my group's creative campaign for Coca-Cola, our hypothetical client in my Adv. Advertising Techniques class (the 3 hours a week when I get to see what it would be like to sell my soul). Our campaign tagline is "Classic Never Goes Out of Style" and we try not to take ourselves too seriously. And Palak is a dream in teal.

A Thousand Different Versions of Yourself

Goings Ons--

Last weekend I surprised my parents and showed up at home. I got to spend time with my mom (who is now doing a lot better (!)) and binge on all home related things: the smell of my sheets, over-sized couches, a full pantry, homemade samosas, food network and tlc, light shining through all the windows, being on the ground floor, strawberries with heavy cream and powdered sugar, Thandi, the sound of my dad's chair rolling in the study, family parties with too much food, the #6 at del... I even got to sneak in through the back door at 5am after locking myself out.

I also got to spend a few stolen moments with friends, who are wonderful, and bestowed gifts upon me like stolen airline blankets, zebra stamps, and borrowed copies of the "IMAX: Deep Sea" dvd (thanks Jennifer).

On top of all that I came home to find a coloring book from Steph and tiny chocolate eggs hiding rather conspicuously around my room. Not to mention packages from Jennifer and my parents, featuring items like a giraffe hair clip, clothes, and the first three episodes of This American Life the TV show on dvd. I've been pretty overwhelmed by this abundance of kindness, more overwhelmed by far than I am by everything else that's going on. So, at the risk of sounding gushy, thanks to everyone. I love you guys more than bunnnies.

Also, tonight we're seeing Mass Transit at Skirball. Join us!

A Bird Pooped on Claire's Head Today

Red.

Orange.

My cough was getting a little out of control, so today Meg took me to the health center-- it turns out the cough/cold that I had earlier triggered my previous asthma. As a result, I am now the lucky owner of two inhalers, which I'm sure will be really impressive at my internship interview that I have tomorrow.

Also, you know how in those commercials for chicken soup they always compare the good, hearty, goodie-filled soup with the dinky soup from the box that has like, no chicken and two pieces of noodles floating around in it? Well, I love that soup, and my roommies bought me two boxes of it =).

In the same vein of wonderful roommates, I want to say thank you to everyone who's been here for me lately, it means a lot. A lot!

And send some of that love over to Dave, he broke his nose and is getting an operation tomorrow =(.

Picture in Picture

Today was spent looking for my voice. In this instance, "voice" isn't being equated with "courage," in a Hilary Duff sort of way, but rather with my actual vocal chords, which apparently hate me. Claire and Stephanie are also losing their voices, though, so maybe together we can embark on some type of voice/courage-seeking journey, which would be much more poetic and compelling as opposed to my current state of pathetic and raspy.
